Retail OT Shield

Your coolers are on the network. Who else is?

Refrigeration controllers, HVAC and building systems are now connected and remotely serviced, usually with nobody watching. Book a free OT risk briefing and find out what’s exposed across your stores, warehouses or kitchens, and what to fix first.

  • 45-minute working session with an OT security engineer
  • Likely exposure paths for your type of operation
  • A prioritized next-step plan you keep, whether you buy or not

What we look for

The same five gaps show up again and again across grocery, QSR, convenience and cold-storage operators.

Devices nobody has inventoried
Controllers, gateways and sensors added over years by different contractors, often running unsupported firmware.
Vendor access that never closes
Always-on remote tools and shared credentials that reach many sites from one login.
Flat networks
Refrigeration and HVAC on the same network as POS and office PCs, so one infected laptop can reach them.
Exposed management interfaces
Web consoles and services reachable from places they shouldn’t be, with default or weak authentication.
Alarms nobody would miss
Temperature monitoring and alarm paths that can go quiet without anyone noticing until product is at risk.
P1 Unauthorized temperature threshold change

Cooler setpoint versus product temperature The setpoint jumps from 34 to 48 degrees at 2:14 a.m. while product temperature stays near 35 degrees because the change is caught and reversed.
Setpoint 34°F → 48°F Product temp held at 35°F
  1. Setpoint change detected on passive OT sensor; correlated in SIEM
  2. SOC escalates to facilities lead and refrigeration vendor
  3. Customer approves; vendor account suspended, setpoint restored by technician

What 24/7 OT monitoring looks like

With Retail OT Shield, passive sensors watch OT traffic at every location. When something changes that shouldn’t — a setpoint, a firmware version, a vendor logging in at 2 a.m. — our SOC investigates within minutes and gets the right people moving: your facilities lead, your refrigeration vendor, your IT team.

We never operate your equipment or make food-safety calls. We make sure the people who do have the facts, fast.

How the briefing works

  1. Tell us about your sites

Send the form. We’ll confirm a time within one business day and share a short pre-call questionnaire.

  2. Talk it through

  3. Get your plan

You receive a written summary of likely exposures, recommended next steps, and pricing for your number of locations.

Questions

Is the briefing really free?

Yes. There’s no cost and no obligation. If you want a full OT security assessment or a Retail OT Shield subscription afterwards, we’ll quote it separately.

Will monitoring interfere with our refrigeration or building systems?

No. We use passive network sensors and vendor-approved collection methods wherever possible, so we observe traffic rather than touch devices. Any active scanning happens only with your authorization, equipment vendor approval where applicable, and an agreed testing window.

Do you take control of our equipment during an incident?

No. We investigate, contain the cyber threat with your authorization, and coordinate with your facilities team and equipment vendors. Operating refrigeration equipment and making food-safety decisions remain with your authorized staff and qualified specialists.

What frameworks does Retail OT Shield follow?

The service is designed around NIST SP 800-82 Rev. 3 (Guide to OT Security) and CISA guidance, with emphasis on asset visibility, network segmentation, controlled remote access and safety-conscious incident response.

Can this work alongside our existing security tools?

Yes. OT alerts flow into SIEM and SOAR workflows alongside your corporate IT endpoint and network detections, so investigations see the full picture across IT and OT.
